BMW Group has partnered with Rimac Technology on a new high-voltage battery for the i7, using Gen6 4695 cylindrical cells with 20% higher energy density. The battery is manufactured at Rimac‘s Campus in Croatia and assembled at BMW’s Dingolfing plant. The updated i7 premieres 22 April 2026 with increased range and faster charging.
BMW has announced the iX3 40 entry-level electric SUV at €63,400 with 635 kilometers of WLTP range and 300 kW charging. The model extends a lineup where the higher-spec iX3 50 has secured over 50,000 orders, while Chinese competitor Geely E5 enters Europe at €37,990.
BMW has unveiled the i3 sedan with a 900 km WLTP-certified range and 400 kW charging capability. On motorways, European infrastructure is built to match it. Everywhere else, the cars are moving faster than the grid meant to serve them.
